In 2020, the Pickle Unit was set up in Kayad, Ajmer, bringing hope to many women in the area, including Farzana. With 25 women working full-time, this lively unit creates a variety of delicious pickles, allowing the women to support their families and contribute to the local community.
A Transformative Opportunity
Farzana is a widow and a loving mother of two. After her husband passed away, she faced many difficulties in providing for her family. Determined to secure their future, she joined the Peer Baba Self Help Group, which opened doors for her personal and professional growth.
When she got the chance to work at the pickle unit, it changed everything for Farzana. She learned new skills and gained confidence, balancing her many responsibilities. Today, she is the backbone of her family, managing household chores, taking care of the fields, and looking after the cattle while excelling at her job.
The Joy of Sisterhood
Farzana loves her time at the pickle unit and describes it with joy:
"I finish all my chores at home, work in the fields, cut fodder for the cattle, and then come to work, but I'm not tired because the energy here is so positive. It’s like coming to meet my friends, my sisters. We laugh, talk, and I don’t know where the day goes!"
This strong bond among the women makes their work fun and builds a sense of support and friendship.
A Role Model for Others
Farzana’s story shows the strength and determination of women in her community. By managing her responsibilities and working at the pickle unit, she inspires others to overcome challenges and thrive.
As Farzana continues her work alongside her peers, she represents the power of women coming together to create a better future for themselves and their families.
